Unexpected Guests

Winter season came quickly, and so did the holidays.  Adam wasn't going to skip Christmas, even if all his family and friends were thousands of miles away.  This Christmas was going to be special, because it was his first in Far West.

Adam made a new friend during the holiday season.  Randy London walked by one day, and Adam stepped outside to say hello.

But with every new friend and person that started to visit Far West, there's always going to be one who plans to take advantage of another.  And one such individual snuck their way over to Adam's house to do a little holiday "shopping".  Or I can rephrase that as, "shop-lifting".

Meeting Marisa

Once word got back home of the beauty that was Far West, others started to come and check out the land that Adam had found.  Marisa is one such person, and Adam found her very attractive.  He invited her over for dinner one day to get to know her better.  Marisa talked about her days in college, which Adam found quite interesting.

Building The House

It took time, patience, sweat, and a lot of hard work, but eventually Adam got his home and farm structures built.  He needed to contact someone back home in the city to help bring out seeds and planting tips to get a garden started.

The person that responded was a gentleman by the name of Armando.  He offered to give Adam some tips on getting a garden started, so that fresh fruit and vegetables could be grown to help provide for food.  There were no grocery stores in Far West, and having food delivered took time.

BOOK ONE: CHAPTER I -- "Adam the Adventurer"

"Adam the Adventurer" many had called him through his childhood.  Adam Kirk never stopped daydreaming, no matter where he was.  Although he wasn't very book smart in school, he was very imaginative and creative as well.  He loved to draw and paint the worlds he would see in his dreams.  One day, he was daydreaming under a tree while looking out West.  He wondered to himself if there was a place out there farther than the eye could see; a place no one else would venture to.  So after much thought and planning, Adam decided to leave the usual world behind him and head West.  It took many, many months of traveling with many trials along the way.  But the time came when he finally ventured farther west than anyone had ever gone.

There were no buildings, yet there was evidence of an ancient civilization.  Could that be why there are roads here? Adam had found an ancient structure off of one of these roads. Near one of those ancient structures, Adam decided to catch some butterflies when suddenly... a revelation came to him.

This was the place!  This was the place he had imagined and daydreamed about.  He knew he was further west than anyone else in the Modern World had been.  Although there was once an ancient civilization here at one time, Adam was the first from his Time.  It was time to finally settle.  Here he would make his "mark" in the world; a place he would come to call as "Far West"

The Untamed Land of Far West

The legacy of Far West begins here in untamed land somewhere out West. Some ancient people or aliens built roads here, but they had no interest in colonizing and beginning a town here. No one knows why and how long ago it happened. After that, the land was forgotten only to be rediscovered by a sole adventurer, and this is where our story begins.

It begins here in the frontier, farther west than one can imagine.
It took imagination and courage to rediscover this far away land, and one man sought it upon himself to adventure out beyond where no man had gone before.  It was a long trek amongst the wilderness, using only the stars as his guide.  It took many months, but finally Adam Kirk had found a place that only existed in his most pleasant of dreams.  It was time to finally settle.  It was time to give it a name.  It was simple.  It was Far West, and here is its story.

Welcome to the Legacy of Far West!

Editor's Note:

Welcome simmers to the distant land of Far West. This is my legacy story using the game, The Sims 2 and its expansions.

This story doesn't follow any specific legacy "rules", per se, however it does follow my own set of rules. The Sims 2 has quite an advantage to be able to micromanage every part of your neighborhood. So my rules are simple:

1) The neighborhood starts with one sim. Marriages will be with NPC's that are generated within the game. No inbreeding!

2) All community lots will be custom designed lots created by myself or someone in the computer, and they will be run by the sims in town via the "Open For Business" expansion. For example, this means there will be no bookstore, restaurant, gym or grocery store, unless a sim is running it. Regular careers are permisable, since a carpool will come to pick up the sim and take them "out of town". The only exception to this rule would be vacation destinations. Those will be custom designed with lots found online, but will not be run by any sims. Anywhere else such as downtown, college, and business town, will be all run by sims.

3) Aging is on, although in game rewards are allowed to help extend the lifespan. As more sims become available to play, it will become necessary to move between households to balance out the aging.

4) No cars unless one is built via the "FreeTime" expansion pack or bought for a custom car lot to be run by a sim.

5) No use of Hobby Lots, unless I can custom make one. Same goes for Witch and Secret Society lots.

That's all I can think of, for now.

The idea behind the story is to build a unique town and civilization over generations of "sim time". I hope you enjoy the story and adventure as much as I have playing and writing it.
